According to the Express, Manchester City and Liverpool have shown interest in potentially signing Arsenal Bukayo Saka, whose contract situation is far from settled.
His deal expires in the summer of 2024 and Saka is apparently reluctant to renew his deal. This would, of course, alert the big boys in the PL given how talented and young the England international is.
But according to Kevin Campbell, there is no chance that either LFC or Man City get their hands on Saka this summer. He told Highbury Squad
(h/t the Express):“He is already under contract. These things are not just going to get done in a couple of months. These things could take six months but Arsenal are not, trust me, they are not going to sell Saka in this window. No chance. No chance.”
The former Arsenal striker, who is now 52, does make sense. It takes time to get such deals sorted, given the importance of Saka to the Gunners and his status as a future Gunners icon. It’s hard to imagine the Gunners easily letting go of their next big thing.
He has become the face of a ‘new Arsenal’ that Mikel Arteta has been assembling in the years following Arsene Wenger’s departure. Although, it would be some deal if the Reds manage to get their hands on him.
Saka is fast, he is versatile, and helps out in defence. Just 20, his best is yet to come and it is scary to think how much he could develop under a coach such as Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
It remains to be seen if LFC ever act on their apparent interest in their player. But if Saka was to ever leave the Emirates in the near future, fans would want Liverpool to throw their name in the hat for his signature.
He is truly one of the best young prospects in the Premier League who can potentially replace Mohamed Salah in the future. The Egyptian star is staying here until 2025 after his renewal but at 30, he isn’t going to be playing forever.
