Transfer News: Club insiders explain Liverpool’s stance on signing Real Madrid star Marco Asensio
Transfer News: Liverpool reject interest in Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio
Liverpool Echo claims that club insiders have denied any apparent interest that Liverpool were believed to have in Marco Asensio.
The Spanish winger has been linked with LFC recently and that would have excited some of our fans. The Real Madrid star, after all, is of a good age profile and a versatile playmaker.
It was claimed that the Reds could sign him on a cut-price deal for around £25million with the winger himself willing to take a pay cut. But those claims have now been rubbished.

One can never take such news with a full guarantee. If every transfer rumour in the world proved to be true, there won’t be a limit on how many players would be switching clubs on a daily basis.
What next for Marco and LFC?
Nevertheless, it makes sense that Asensio isn’t apparently wanted by Jurgen Klopp’s side. He is talented, versatile, and has shown at Real Madrid just what he is capable of on his day.
But we have a lot of forwards already, even after the departure of Sadio Mane, Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino this summer. Darwin Nunez has come in, and so has Fabio Carvalho.
Asensio hasn’t had a lot of trust under Carlo Ancelloti recently in terms of starts in the big games. And it is natural that the player would be looking to increase that.

He is yet to play senior club football for a team outside Spain, having moved to Real Madrid from RCD Mallorca in 2015. One can’t deny just how much he would have added depth to our bench.
But there are several factors that come at play- if the Reds hold an interest in him, if the player is open to a move, if he can settle for being rotated regularly, and if the financial aspect of the transfer works out for all parties involved.
