Transfer News: Liverpool and Aston Villa told Otavio of FC Porto is not for sale

The agent of Otavio, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool and Aston Villa, has told Portuguese outlet Record (h/t the Mirror), that the FC Porto star is “not for sale”.

According to Mais Football (h/t the Mirror), the Villans value the wideman at £25million, which was already quite a way off Porto’s price tag for the player. But his release clause has now risen.

While it was £35million just a day or two back, it is now £55million. At that amount, the Portuguese international becomes a player not worth chasing- at least for LFC.

With Mohamed Salah tied down to a new deal until 2025, there isn’t really a need for a right winger. Of course, the ex-Internacional man can play as a backup to the Egyptian.

No move, no problem

But is that a role he would settle for at 27? With the FIFA World Cup in Qatar just around the corner, he’d know the importance of regular club-level football.

Leeds United are another side linked with him. A move to either of those two English clubs, in that regard, would make more sense for the player.

He can expect decent playing time there because at LFC, it is clear that Luis Diaz and Mo Salah are the first-choice options down the wings.

This is a deal not worth wasting our time and funds on. While Otavio is of course a good player with an eye for a pass inside the box, his agent seeming pessimistic about a deal further douses any remainders of a fire- if there ever was one.
