Liverpool pre-season starlet closing in on a loan move to Blackburn Rovers

Tyler Morton is expected to join Blackburn Rovers on loan from Liverpool

Liverpool midfielder Tyler Morton is close to joining Blackburn Rovers on loan from Liverpool, according to Charlotte Coates on Twitter

(h/t Liverpool Echo). The 19-year-old has been impressive for the Reds and has featured heavily during the pre-season.

Jurgen Klopp has been impressed with Morton’s showing in the friendly games. The Merseysiders are said to be interested in sanctioning a move away for the youngster to help him gain more first-team action.

A move away to Blackburn for the 19-year-old with a view to gaining more experience is a wise decision. The Championship is the perfect league for a youngster to have an opportunity to play week in, week out.

Harvey Elliott also spent time with the Blue and Whites in the 2020/21 season. The former Fulham youngster made a name for himself in English football’s second tier, scoring seven goals and making 11 assists in 42 appearances for Blackburn.

Liverpool currently have a plethora of options in the middle of the park. Jurgen Klopp has some of the world’s best players in the squad in Thiago Alcantara, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.

The strength in depth is impressive as well, with Naby Keita breaking out from his shell last season and becoming a key member of Klopp’s XI. The Guinean seems to have found his rhythm.

James Milner has also extended his stay with us. The Englishman might be 36, but he’s still one of the fittest members of the squad. Milner’s versatility is also an asset to the side.

We also have some brilliant youngsters in Curtis Jones, Fabio Carvalho and Harvey Elliott, capable of playing in midfield. Morton too has his own place in the hierarchy and now has an opportunity to prove himself.

If Morton stays at Liverpool, the competition to get game time is very high. If everything goes well with his possible move to Blackburn, the 19-year-old has the opportunity to learn a lot.
