Liverpool coaches eager to work with promising young summer signing

Liverpool coaches looking forward to working with Calvin Ramsay

The Liverpool coaches can’t hide their excitement to work with young defender Calvin Ramsay even if the player is yet to step foot on the training field. The 18-year-old would likely serve as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s backup after moving to Liverpool from Aberdeen earlier in the summer transfer window.

The Scot arrived at Liverpool’s training camp in Austria last week alongside his teammates, although he has yet to begin his preparations for the new season. A promising talent, much will be expected of the Scottish ace at Kirkby.

Jurgen Klopp revealed that staff members needed to be cautious

with Ramsay’s fitness since he was dealing with a small injury. The youngster’s body will have plenty of time to catch up, but elite development coach Vitor Matos is one of those looking forward to his first day of practice.

Speaking in an interview with the club’s official website, Victor Matos revealed that he is eagerly waiting to coach the Scottish star as the player continues to recover on the sidelines. He said:

“Calvin didn’t start training but we are really looking forward to him. So when we have new signings, it’s always about how the team adapts to them and as well how they adapt to the team, so these relationships are quite important and that’s why the pre-season is important as well. So it’s good that we are working with them already now.

Thanks to the addition of Calvin Ramsay, and academy graduate, Isaac Mabaya, Klopp would now have genuine options to select from in the right-back spot. It is a welcome relief from having to play players like Joe Gomez and James Milner out of position.

Alexander-Arnold has not yet fully benefited from the arrival of the Scottish youth international, since Ramsay has yet to make an appearance for the Reds. Liverpool would be confident that the move will pay off in more ways than one.

The 18-year-old would be capable of being a future asset for the club and he would also offer some healthy competition and would even push Alexander-Arnold to work hard.

Left-back Andy Robertson would have experienced the same thing when Greek full-back Kostas Tsimikas joined the Anfield side. Even though the Greek had a limited number of games in his first campaign, Robertson’s performances showed a huge improvement due to the competition provided by Tsimikas.

The fans would hope that Trent Alexander-Arnold improves his performance similarly after the arrival of Calvin Ramsay.
