Jurgen Klopp gives injury updates on Ibrahima Konate and two other Liverpool players for Fulham tie

Speaking to the club’s official website, Jurgen Klopp sounded optimistic about Ibrahima Konate’s injury scare and hopes to see him fit for the opening matchday of the Premier League this Saturday at Fulham.

The French centre-half was substituted in the 57th minute vs Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg in a friendly at Anfield on Sunday in a game the hosts were beaten 3-0.

Physio Chris Morgan helped Konate limp off the pitch for further assessment before he was replaced by Dutchman Sepp van den Berg.

Liverpool have found a gem of a centre-back in Ibrahima Konate after signing him from RB Leipzig.
Ibrahima Konate should be fit for the opening Premier League matchday expects manager Jurgen Klopp.

“Naby is ill and Curtis felt a little bit and we couldn’t take any risks. All of a sudden the team was really young and we play [against] a really strong Strasbourg side.”

Naby Keita is not expected to recover from illness in time for Saturday’s game against Fulham. Speaking about Jones’ absence, Klopp established that the medical team needs to further assess his situation after his brief appearance vs Manchester City in the FA Community Shield Final victory.

“Curtis, we have to see. We had no time; he felt it today and he wanted to play desperately, but then the medical department said no and that we needed to make further tests. We will do that tomorrow and then we will know more.”

Jones’ replaced Mohammed Salah in the 90+5′ minute and the manager’s comments confirm the fact that this was not an impact injury and the actual issue still seems to be unknown.

With the Medical Staff at task, it is a race against time for the young English midfielder to be deemed fit for the league game at Craven Cottage come this Saturday against The Whites.
