Liverpool among three PL clubs in the fray for Spaniard with £67.5m release clause

Liverpool will need to fork out £67.5 million to land Yeremy Pino

Liverpool target Yeremy Pino has garnered interest from several top European clubs, and very recently signed a contract extension with Villarreal keeping him at the club until 2027.

Pino has scored 14 goals and made five assists in 77 appearances across all competitions for Villarreal so far. At merely 19 years old, he is one of Europe’s brightest young talents.

Reports coming in from Marca (h/t Liverpool Echo) say that along with London clubs Arsenal and Chelsea, Liverpool also wants to have Pino on their books. His versatility to play any of the forward roles makes him a hot property for clubs with fluid attacking styles.

There is a £67.5m release clause in his new contract. If Liverpool were to sign him by triggering his release clause, he would be one of the most expensive signings by the club.

Only Virgil van Dijk (£75m), Alisson Becker (£67.5m) and Darwin Nunez (£85m) have a transfer fee worth more than £67.5 million. Certainly landing Pino would be a statement of intent from the Reds.

Paying such a hefty amount for a teenager might prove to be a huge gamble, but the Spaniard is showing all the signs of a bright future. Under Unai Emery, Pino has grown to become a first-team regular.

The report also adds that Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in signing the player, but these teams have a plethora of young options in attack, which might make signing Pino an add-on more than a necessity.

Liverpool, recently giving out a new contract to Mohamed Salah and having Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Roberto Firmino in attack, would not necessarily want to sign a new attacker, but Firmino’s contract ends next summer, opening up opportunities for new signings.
