According to a report in Radio Villarreal (h/t Metro), Arsenal have made a €40million bid to sign Villarreal winger and Liverpool target Yeremy Pino. There might be a straight shootout between the two Premier League rivals for the 19-year-old.
It is also reported that even though the Reds are looking at Pino as an option to add to their squad to bolster their forward line, they would be reluctant to go to Villarreal’s £50m
valuation, unlike Arsenal.Liverpool let go of one of their star forwards Sadio Mane in the summer window to Bayern Munich. However, they have signed forward players – Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho in the last six months.
It remains to be seen Jurgen Klopp is looking to add more to his front-line, or stay happy with what he has got so far. There is certainly no lack of quality in the Reds’ attack.
Pino is a quality player who can play in any of the positions across the front-line, preferably in wide areas. Despite being 19, he has a lot of experience playing first-team football for Villarreal in La Liga and the Champions League.
The Spanish international has scored 14 goals and assisted five in 77 appearances in all competitions for the Yellow Submarine.
His current contract at Villarreal lasts till the summer of 2027. But, the Spanish side is cash-strapped at the moment, and would listen to offers for the youngster.
From Liverpool’s viewpoint, although the player is young and has the potential to develop even further. However, it makes little sense for us to engage in a transfer war for now,
Instead of bringing in an attacker, the club can look at signing a midfielder to bolster that department big time. The last thing we want is a repeat of the 2020/21 injury crisis.
