Robert Lewandowski reveals what Liverpool star Thiago Alcantara said to him after Barcelona move
Former Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski has revealed that he received a congratulatory message from former teammate and Liverpool star Thiago Alcantara, after completing his move to Barcelona this summer.
Thiago, a Barcelona youth product moved to the Bundesliga side in 2013, with Lewandowski joining a year later. The two spent a glorious six years together before the former moved to Liverpool in 2020.
Now the Polish international has revealed that he received a congratulatory message from the Spaniard after his move to the La Liga club, while speaking to Sport (h/t Liverpool Echo).
“I had a very good relationship with Thiago and Javi Martínez. Both of them congratulated me when I signed for Barca.”
Since his move two years ago, Thiago has established himself in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield. The 31-year-old was a key figure in the middle of the park last season as the Reds won the domestic cup doubles and ended runners-up in both the league and Champions League.
Thiago was also phenomenal during his time at Barcelona. The Spaniard made 100 appearances for the La Liga giants and won four league titles and a Champions League with the Camp Nou outfit.
His fine form earned him a move to Munich where he went from good to better. And now he has congratulated his former teammate after he made the move to his boyhood club. The 31-year-old has quickly established himself as one of the best midfielders in England.
He featured for Klopp in the opening day game against Fulham. The central midfielder picked up a hamstring injury and was substituted in the second half. It has now been revealed that he could be on the sidelines for up to six weeks, according to the Express.
Klopp now has four of his midfielders on the sidelines with three of them out for some considerable period of time. The Reds are linked with a move for Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella.

However, it remains to be seen if a move can be worked out. Klopp will hope that Thiago can recover fast and his injury is not that serious. Having already dropped points at Craven Cottage, Klopp will hope to get all three points against Crystal Palace.
