Liverpool are interested in Croatian youngster Luka Sucic
Reports from Salzburger Nachrichten (h/t Liverpool Echo) suggest Liverpool are interested in RB Salzburg’s Croatian midfielder Luka Sucic.
The 19-year-old can virtually play all the roles in midfield, bar a defensive one. He can play on either side of midfield and, can play attacking midfield as well. He has scored 13 goals and made six assists across 75 appearances in all competitions for the Austrian club.
In one appearance against Liverpool in the pre-season, he impressed everyone including Reds’ gaffer Jurgen Klopp. Sucic has been drawing eyes from top European clubs following his breakthrough last season, and Liverpool are the latest on the list of clubs trying to get his signature.
The young 19-year-old also has three caps for his national team. His best performances have come at Attacking Midfield, just behind the strikers. He has 11 goal contributions from 23 appearances when starting as an attacking midfielder.
Salzburg have been kind to the European elite, producing talents and later earning a decent profit from their sales. Sadio Mane, Takumi Minamino, Naby Keita and Erling Haaland to name a few.
Liverpool, currently facing an injury crisis in midfield will benefit hugely if they succeed in landing a player of Sucic’s calibre. He has shown glimpses of brilliance over the last few months and is tipped to be one of Europe’s brightest talents.
Thiago Alcantara is the latest entrant to the unfortunate list of injured Liverpool midfielders. It leaves the club with very little depth to play with, possibly proving to be a problem come to the end of the season.
Along with Thiago, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have been sidelined for a while now. In such situations, signing a midfielder will largely benefit the club. Manager Jurgen Klopp has been strict about not signing anyone after Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsey earlier in the Transfer Window.

With Liverpool also looking to secure the services of long-term interest Jude Bellingham next summer, any move for other midfielders is speculative to say the least. Fans would hope to see a new midfield face in the club before the transfer deadline.
