West Ham United have been linked with a move for Liverpool transfer target and Sporting CP’s midfield enforcer, Matheus Nunes. But they have suffered a setback in their pursuit of the 25-year-old star, as per Bruno Andrade (h/t Liverpool Echo).
West Ham United have been active in the transfer market looking to build on their impressive performances in the past two seasons.
They have already added the exciting Italian international Gianluca Scamacca, Nayef Aguerd, Maxwell Cornet, Alphonso Areola, and Flynn Dowles in their ranks for the upcoming season. It has been an impressive summer transfer window but this has not stopped the Hammers from targeting Nunes.
The Hammers have promised to multiply his current salary six times. However, the player has rejected their advances. It would be wise to acknowledge that Nunes has rejected the Hammers and is willing to wait for an offer from a club with a bigger project.
That would come as music to the ears of those at Anfield granted they continue their pursuit of the midfielder – granted that our team is one of the two top clubs in English football.
Liverpool are going through a midfield crisis following injuries to Thiago and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and although Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has claimed that no more
reinforcements will be done in the summer, the injury crisis could be a factor to take into consideration now.Liverpool have shortlisted a number of options to solve their midfield crisis with Inter Milan’s defensive midfielder Marcelo Brozovic’s name also in contention.
With less than a month till the transfer window closes, it will be interesting to see whether Liverpool move for Nunes and whether he will regret rejecting a big-money move to the Premier League.
He won’t be a shabby option to have in our ranks at all. He is comparatively young, talented, and will add considerable depth in a position where we are in need of reinforcements.
