Former Chelsea and Barcelona player Cesc Fabregas via Twitter drew a comparison between Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and the Spaniard’s ex-teammate at Barcelona, Daniel Alves.
Fabregas praised Trent’s range of passing and equated it with Dani Alves’ ability. The team’s sluggish start to the season did not pose a barricade for Trent to showcase his excellent passing abilities. Drawing two out of as many games, Liverpool are now four points behind league leaders Manchester City.
Alexander-Arnold did not have the best game against Crystal Palace, but fashioned a couple of chances to get an assist. Unfortunately the Liverpool attackers weren’t on their A-game.
A frustrating night at Anfield saw Liverpool draw against Crystal Palace , who took the lead early on with a Wilfried Zaha goal. A red card for Darwin Nunez saw things get worse for the Merseysiders. It took a very special Luis Diaz goal from outside the box to secure them a share of the spoils.
Being compared to Alves is a huge positive for the 23 year old scouser. Along with Lionel Messi, Dani Alves was part of one of the world’s best footballing duos, wrecking havoc down the right side for FC Barcelona following his transfer from Sevilla in 2008.
Interestingly, Alves was close to joining the Reds in 2006 when he played at Sevilla. He had reached agreements with the club. Eventually the deal fell through in the concluding stages. Alves is one of football’s most decorated players with an incredible 42 trophies to his name.
Liverpool’s right-back has a chance to get at that record. At only 23, he has won every top-flight club trophy possible and still has a long career ahead of him.
