Romano: Liverpool are looking at multiple midfielders besides Konrad Laimer

Liverpool have been linked with a move for RB Leipzig star Konrad Laimer but he isn’t the only midfielder on their radar, according to Fabrizio Romano.

He told Wettfreunde (h/t Liverpool Echo) that the Reds are also keeping an eye on other options. He did not seem to have named any names, however.

“Konrad Laimer is one of the players Liverpool are exploring but he is not the only one, there are many options. My personal opinion is that Konrad Laimer would be perfect for Liverpool. They really need that kind of player with a lot of energy.”

The 25-year-old Austria international is a dynamic midfielder who can play as a central midfielder as well as a defensive midfielder. This kind of versatility can be useful for Jurgen Klopp.

Laimer, and who else?

Not only would that increase depth in the number six position, but it would ensure that manager Jurgen Klopp isn’t overly reliant on injury prone players like Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

It remains to be seen if the Reds sign anyone in this window. Klopp has admitted that the club need to sign a player in that position but the Reds have oddly left their business too late to be done this window.

There have been other names linked to us, such as that of Brighton & Hove Albion youngster Moises Caicedo and Wolverhampton Wanderers star Ruben Neves.

Liverpool fans would be getting desperate at this point. Even if there wasn’t an injury crisis going on, adding a midfielder would have been a smart move.

More Liverpool News:

Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones, and Fabio Carvalho are bright and talented but they are too inexperienced to be relied on. They are also not natural central midfielders and were previously playing as wingers or central attacking midfielder before Klopp got their hands on them.
