Transfer News: Leicester City receive mysterious bid for Youri Tielemans amid Liverpool interest
Leicester City are said to have received a bid of £19 million from a mysterious club for Youri Tielemans, according to Football Insider. Liverpool are said to be interested in the midfielder.
Tielemans has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, with the player keen on a move to the Emirates. But, recent woes in the midfield department has forced Jurgen Klopp back into the market.
The boss had said earlier they were not going to buy anyone, but has now made a U-turn on his statement. He admitted earlier that they were looking for a suitable midfielder in the market. And Tielemans was one of the touted options for the Reds.
The 25-year-old joined the Foxes in 2019 from French side AS Monaco. Since then he has gone from strength to strength every season. A pivotal player for the Foxes, he was crucial as he helped his side lift the FA Cup in the 2020/21 season.
His current contract expires next summer and there is no such talk of an extension. The Belgian international was valued by the Foxes for over £50 million, but that amount is highly unlikely to be paid by interested parties.
Klopp could do with a midfielder like the 25-year-old. He can play as both a no.6 and no.8 whenever required. The duo of James Milner and Jordan Henderson cannot be expected to start every game, and the remaining midfielders are very prone to injury as witnessed.
A proven and experienced Premier League player, Tielemans will also have little problem adjusting to life at Merseyside. If the Reds are not the ones who bid for the Belgian, Klopp would be wise to make one.

With less than a day to go before the transfer window slams shut, it will be wise for the Reds to have their house in order. There is no doubt that a midfielder is required, but will Klopp be able to land one in time remains to be seen.
