Transfer News: Liverpool could make a move for Houssem Aouar
According to the Express, Liverpool need to sign a midfielder to solve their woes and could now be tempted to make a move for Olympique Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar.
The 24-yea-old is in the final year of his current contract and has refused to pen an extension. This means that he is available for a cut-fee price this summer. The Mirror reports that the Frenchman could be available as low as £12 million.
But Jurgen Klopp could face competition for his signature. Arsenal have been interested in the midfielder for some time now, while Fulham and Crystal Palace are also eyeing a move for the Lyon academy product.
The Reds have lost three of their senior midfielders to injury so early in the season. This has led to Curtis Jones and Fabio Carvalho getting minutes on the pitch. An experienced midfielder is needed, and Aouar could be the answer.
Aouar has immense experience under his belt. Just 24, the Frenchman could be the future star of Liverpool’s midfield. The midfielder has made 216 appearances for Lyon in all competitions to date, scoring 40 and assisting another 35 in the process.
He can play as a number 6, 8 and 10 as and whenever required. He is also capable of playing on the wings, with the left side his preferred option. Not only will he help in adding depth, he could also be deployed on multiple fronts.
And to add to all this, the player is available for such a less price. It is very rare to have such an experienced and young player available for such a cut-fee price. He could prove to be one of the best bargains of the summer.
