Liverpool ace Alisson Becker gives his verdict on the goalless draw with Everton

Following the Reds’ draw to Everton at Goodison, Liverpool goalie Alisson Becker spoke about the outcome of the game. He also talked about how the Reds are “really focused on getting the victories back”. [as spoken to the club’s official website]

The Merseyside club shared the spoils as there was not much to separate the sides on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Conor Coady managed to get the ball past the Brazilian on one occasion, but the Wolverhampton loanee was offside.

Liverpool have dropped points once again this season, and have been off-colour for the last few weeks. The Reds have not won any of their away games this league campaign and that is a bit problematic. Alisson said that the team is now focused on getting back on winning ways.

“We are really focused on getting the victories back. It was really important we won the last game [against Newcastle]. Not always do you get the results that you want but you have to fight for that, you need to have consistency in your performances, and we are getting there. We are improving in respect of the last games we had, each game we are improving a step.”

Liverpool would have dropped points at home to Newcastle too if it was not for a late Fabio Carvalho finish from a yard out to hand the Reds their second win of the season. Nevertheless, that is a thing of the past.

According to Alisson, the squad is focused on future results and strives to get positive results. A number of players have returned from injury and it gives the Reds a sort of an injury boost ahead of their first UEFA Champions League campaign.

“Players are coming back from injuries so that is really important and that is the good side of everything.”

Liverpool are six points off from Arsenal, who are sitting comfortably on the top of the table. It becomes extremely crucial to get back on winning ways as soon as possible to pose any threat as title contenders.

A number of players returned from injury-layoff, including Diogo Jota, Joel Matip and Curtis Jones. Meanwhile, in the fixture against Newcastle United, Jordan Henderson limped off owing to a hamstring issue. The Everton game saw Fabio Carvalho suffer a knee injury.
