Fabrizio Romano reveals that Jurgen Klopp called Aurelian Tchouameni many times
Speaking on his Youtube channel as quoted by Liverpool Echo, popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Reds manager Jurgen Klopp called talented French midfielder Aurelian Tchouameni to convince him to come to Anfield but the player chose to join Real Madrid.
Tchouameni joined Real Madrid from AS Monaco in a big money deal earlier this summer. Liverpool were said to be very interested in signing the talented Frenchman but the player chose to go to Spain.
One of the most talented players in European football in recent years, big things are expected of Tchouameni. He is expected to be the next big thing and could become a mainstay in Real Madrid’s midfield for many years to come.
Tchouameni joined Monaco from Bordeaux in 2020 and quickly became one of the best players for the Ligue 1 club. He can play in defensive midfield as well as central midfield and became a huge hit for the club.
The 22-year-old played 50 times across all the competitions last season scoring five goals and providing three assists across all competitions. He has played six times for Real Madrid providing one assist.
Tchouameni has a contract with Real Madrid until 2028. (transfermarkt). The talented Frenchman has played 12 times for his national team and will be hoping to book a ticket to Qatar later this year.

Speaking about Liverpool’s pursuit of Tchouameni, Romano went on to reveal the kind of efforts Jurgen Klopp put in to try and sign the player.
“Jurgen Klopp did his best for a deal, he called the player many times, he explained the project and the plan in midfield, but Tchouameni had an agreement with Real Madrid. Klopp really wanted him, he was convinced that Tchouameni was the perfect player for the Liverpool midfield for their project, but sometimes players have different plans and that was the case for Tchouameni”
Liverpool need a midfield revamp, with the current options not really impressive. They managed to sign Arthur Melo on deadline day on a loan deal but the Reds need to invest in a solid midfielder really soon.
There is no doubt that next summer, Liverpool will want to sign a marquee player for the midfield. Someone with the profile of Jude Bellingham would be perfect should the Englishman choose to come to Anfield.

Tchouameni might have chosen to go to Real Madrid, but Liverpool will have other options and let’s hope they can sign a talented midfielder soon.
