“I was really impressed” – Liverpool coaches impressed with young summer signing

Liverpool coaches impressed by former Celtic starlet Ben Doak

Speaking in an interview with Liverpool Echo, Liverpool U21s boss Barry Lewtas is extremely impressed with the kind of impact new Reds signing Ben Doak has had following his goal in the Youth League match against Napoli.

The 16-year-old Scottish starlet joined the Liverpool youth from Celtic at the beginning of the season. Predominantly a right-winger, Doak can also play as an attacking midfielder and a right midfielder.

Doak is very highly rated and is one of the most exciting Scottish prospects upcoming in world football and there is no doubt that the teenage starlet has a huge career ahead of him if he continues on the same path.

Doak has had an amazing start to the current season. He has played four times for the Reds U-21 this season and has already managed to score three goals and provide two assists across all competitions.

Speaking about the player, Lewtas could not hide his praise for the player and had a lot of good things to say about him

“Sometimes you can watch a player in the flesh a number of times, but it’s very much different when you are working with them as well. You get to learn their personality, to see what they offer the team, and I was really impressed. Ben linked the game up well.”

Such was Doak’s talent that he was handed his senior debut against Dundee United in January of 2022 when he was at Celtic. If things go right, the 16-year-old could rise meteorically through the ranks.

Doak was subject of interest from a number of clubs when he was set to move on from Celtic but Liverpool always seemed to be the clear favourite to sign the player and ended up snapping up the talent.

Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp have shown in the past that they do not have a problem in developing youngsters and trusting them and Doak could be the next one on a list that includes the likes of Harvey Elliott, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones amongst others.
