Liverpool star Andy Robertson paints an honest picture following the loss to Napoli
Speaking to the club’s official website (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool defender Andy Roberston was honest in his assessment of the embarrassing 4-1 defeat to Napoli in their UEFA Champions League fixture.
Robertson was critical of the team not performing to its own set standards and asked for a collective effort to overcome the rough period.
Nowhere near good enough, we can’t front it up any other way than that, it’d be daft of us. The Liverpool fans deserve better than that. We deserve better than that as a squad; we have to look at ourselves.
Liverpool looked like a shadow of themselves in the European fixture with Napoli clearly the more dominating team throughout the 90 minutes.
It has been a pretty dismal season for us and the loss against Napoli was the perfect way to summarise it. Defence is not looking strong while attack reeks of deprivation of ideas and creativity.
The loss was a stark reminder to Klopp of the loss of form of many key players and he would have to take something special out of his notebook to rectify it.
Suddenly, the mood of joyfulness and energy of the past seasons has been filled with a gloomy curiosity about what lies ahead.
With Premier League title hopes in jeopardy, if there is no sudden change in form, it might mark the beginning of an era which has shown complete domination all over Europe.
