Jamie Carragher opens up about Jude Bellingham to Liverpool links
Speaking to TalkSPORT (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher said that there shall be “no doubts” regarding the club and a big transfer window for the Reds come the summer of 2023.
Liverpool are currently in a transitional phase of their squad. Multiple contracts are running out in the summer of 2023. An ageing midfield is also one of the problems the Reds are facing. James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara are all over 31 years old. Liverpool need quality reinforcements and need it fast.
One name the Reds see a link with is Borussia Dortmund’s, Jude Bellingham. Liverpool have been linked with the Englishman ever since his move to Germany. Dortmund have set a price tag of more than £131m for the midfielder. The possibility of a move will be at its peak this summer as the Reds are in need of a central midfielder more than any other time.
Hey Jude in 2023?
Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher is aware of those links. He hopes that these links are true. Additionally, he said that the 19-year-old is a “great player” and wants the rumours to hold correct.
“If Jude Bellingham is one of them, fantastic, because he is a great player. And as I said, there’s going to be a lot of rumours between now and the end of the season with different midfield players. I just hope that one’s true.”
At merely 19, the former Birmingham City midfielder has a long future ahead of him. He could possibly be Liverpool’s most important player for the years to come. The Reds have monitored the player for the longest time as well.
With a number of midfielders, almost certain to depart from the club next summer including the likes of James Milner, the Reds should not spend too much time thinking whether it will be optimal to sign a player of Bellingham’s calibre. It is crystal clear that Liverpool need a presence like the Dortmund midfielder at Anfield.
With him being one of the most sought-after players in world football as of now, Liverpool are almost certain to have a lot of competition in their race to sign the player. That is one more reason why the Reds need to get done with the paperwork soon to have Jude on board.
