Former SPL star Peter Grant slams Andy Robertson for Celtic transfer admission
According to the Liverpool Echo, Peter Grant, who played for Celtic for 15 years between 1982 and 1997 believes that Liverpool star Andy Robertson was wrong to talk about wanting to play for the Hoops.
Robbo admitted that being a boyhood fan of the SPL giants, it was always at the back of his mind to play for them in his prime years. Given that he also mentioned that in an ideal situation, he would want to end his career at Liverpool, Grant’s comments rather come from a state of obscurity.
Following his move from Hull City back in 2017, Robertson has won every trophy possible at the Reds. Even in such a circumstance, talking about moving to Celtic is something he should have restrained himself from according to Grant.
“Your club should be your focus. Football has a funny way of kicking you. I think you’ve just got to concentrate on what you are doing just now and get back playing well with Liverpool, be successful there.”
Robertson is a boyhood Celtic Fan
The former-Celtic midfielder believes that Robbo’s focus should be on the present, and on getting more accolades with Liverpool. But with his comments, Robbo is being accused of being disrespectful to the Reds.
Robbo is well and truly in his right to speak about a dream of his, even if it is about playing for another team. Everyone at Liverpool acknowledges Robbo’s contribution and being honest does not take away from his contributions to the club’s fortunes.
Robertson is a fan favourite among the Reds and has on multiple occasions expressed his desire to end his playing career at Anfield. His current contract at Liverpool ends in 2026, by when he will be around 32 years old. And even at that age, there would hopefully be a lot of football left in the Scotland captain.
The left-back is currently nursing a knee injury he picked up in the Reds’ 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Napoli in the UEFA Champions League. He will return to team training post the international break as per the club’s official website.

If Andy has to sit out for the Reds’ first game after the international break against Brighton and Hove Albion, Kostas Tsimikas can put in more than just a shift for the Scotsman, as the ‘Greek Scouser’ has been in sublime form this season.
