Transfer News: Liverpool handed a boost in their pursuit of Marco Asensio
Liverpool have been handed a major boost in signing Real Madrid ace Marco Asensio as it has been claimed that the Spanish international would be leaving Los Blancos in the coming transfer windows.
Asensio does not have the guarantee of minutes in the new campaign under Carlo Ancelloti, which is pretty evident from the small number of minutes he has played this season.
Now, according to Football Espana (h/t Liverpool Echo), Real Madrid are already planning for life without Asensio at the club which indicates that the player will leave Santiago Bernabeu on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Liverpool were heavily linked with the Spanish International during the summer transfer window and more so when injuries to key players started to take place, leaving Jurgen Klopp short of options.
Asensio was one of the names on the club’s shortlist but were unable to conclude a deal for the playmaker, instead signing Brazilian Arthur Melo on a loan deal from Juventus.
As mentioned by Spanish outlet Sport (h/t Liverpool Echo), it seems like Asensio’s time at Real Madrid is coming to an end with the Spaniard left ‘without a place in the team and that is unlikely to change soon.
Even a recent injury to talisman Karim Benzema could not allow more game-time for the player with Ancelloti preferring midfielder Fede Valverde to play from the right-hand side of the attack.
It is highly likely that Asensio would not sign a contract extension with the club and will leave on a free next summer. It is claimed by Calciomercato (h/t Liverpool Echo)that the player has three possible destinations to choose from: Arsenal, Liverpool and AC Milan.
Klopp would be keen to add a player of Asensio’s quality to his ranks who has shown glimpses of his wonderful talent but due to injuries, has not been able to live up to his potential yet.
