Bacary Sagna predicts Liverpool to miss out on a top-four finish

Speaking to Lord Ping (h/t Liverpool Echo), former France International Bacary Sagna has backed Liverpool to come out of their poor start to form but predicts that it would be tough for them to get top four qualifications if they end up losing more points before the World Cup begins in November.

“I do think Liverpool are the team who could fall out of the top four this season based on the opening seven matches so far, simply because they have dropped quite a few points already,”

The former Arsenal and Manchester City man who has had over 267 Premier League appearances believes that Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur will definitely make the top four with the competition for the last spot to be held between Chelsea and Liverpool.

“I think Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City will definitely finish in the top four. Then you only have one spot left, which will be fought between Liverpool and Chelsea.”

Sagna is correct with his assessment of the situation and it is really crucial for us to not drop any more points before the World Cup in November for us to be within touching distance of the teams above.

Already nine points behind Arsenal and eight points behind Manchester City and Spurs, it already feels like the top end of the table is distinguishing itself away from the rest of the crowd.

Manchester United’s recent rise in the form under Erik Ten Hag should also be taken into consideration to dwell more on the critical need of not dropping any more points. The Reds have often stepped up when it mattered and will need to do so once more.

Jurgen Klopp will have assessed the situation and will be wary of the threat that other teams possess. He will need to ensure that Liverpool regains their form and confidence as soon as possible.

It would be wise to say that the run of fixtures in October can make or break our season and it is extremely important to not lose any further points in the month, for us to stand any chance of competing with the above teams, especially post the World Cup.
