Alan Hutton claims Liverpool would “jump at the chance” to sign 21-year-old winger

Alan Hutton claims Liverpool would jump at the chance to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk if the opportunity arises

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur player Alan Hutton claims that Liverpool would jump at the chance of signing Ukrainian International Mykhaylo Mudryk if there ever comes an opportunity where the winger is available for transfer.

“I think the Liverpool midfield needs a bit of work but if Mudryk is available and he fancies Liverpool then you would jump at the chance.“

Hutton, who made 151 appearances in the Premier League, believes that the 21-year-old Ukranian is a special talent in the making and a big move for the player is close.

Termed the ‘The Ukrainian Neymar‘, Mudryk has seen his stock rise up after some electric performances in the Ukrainian Premier League and UEFA Champions League, thus gaining the attention of many top clubs.

He is the most exciting talent to come out of Ukraine in recent years and is regarded highly in his home country. Speaking to CBS Sport (h/t The Athletic), Shakhtar’s director of football Darijo Srna had only good words to say about the winger.

“Mudryk is a serious talent. After Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Junior, he’s the best player in Europe in his position.”

It is big praise coming from a former player who has played the most number of matches for Shakhtar in the league and knows a thing or two about the club. There will be no shortage of suitors for the dynamic winger with Brentford, Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen all previously having registered interest in the player.

Taking into consideration that we have just signed Luis Dias who has seemingly blended with the squad and has established himself as a key first-team position, thus gaining hold over the left-wing position.

This is also the position where Mudryk majorly plays and with Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho all capable of playing from the wing, there is no real urgency to sign the Ukrainian.

Rather, as has been impossible to ignore, it is our midfield which requires urgent treatment and something which would be looked at with priority in the transfer market.

However, the recent transfer windows have provided us with many unpredictable deals establishing the belief that any outcome is possible. More so, the Ukrainian club may not be in any urgency to sell their rising star with four years (Transfermarkt) still remaining on his contract.

He is one for the future and while there may not be an urgent need for him, it’s not a poor idea to sign him before other top teams get to him – but not at the cost of our midfield, which needs reinforcements.
