Injury Update: Liverpool handed triple boost ahead of Brighton clash

Liverpool handed major injury boost with three players returning to team training

A number of players who saw themselves sidelined owing to injury issues returned to team training ahead of the fixture against Brighton and Hove Albion at Anfield on 1 October. According to the Liverpool Echo, Ibrahima Konate, Caoimhin Kelleher

and Calvin Ramsay were at the AXA Training Centre on 29 September.

Konate limped off the pitch in the second half of a pre-season friendly against RC Strasbourg back in August. The Frenchman returning to the training will give the Reds a major boost defensively during a time where the backline has not been in the best of shapes.

The 23-year-old would be ready to go all guns blazing in what could be his first appearance of the season after he was on the bench against Manchester City in the FA Community Shield Final.

Kelleher also returned to training. An injury during the first international break of the season saw him unavailable for selection. His last appearance for the Reds came in the EFL Cup win against Chelsea wherein he scored Liverpool’s last penalty.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper would hope to get the odd league start and feature for the Reds in most cup games like he did last season. The youngster has impressed whenever given the opportunity and would look to carry on the good merit he has earned.

Also seen in training was 19-year-old, Calvin Ramsay. The right-back arrived in what was a quiet transfer from Aberdeen earlier this season. His back issue first came to notice during his medical at the club.

Since then, he has been putting the shift to gain match-fitness and would be raring to go for the Reds. The Young Player of the Season in the Scottish League last season, he would want to carry on the good form he was in for Aberdeen last season and transition the same way into the Red of Liverpool.

With the return of this trio, the only players still out with injury are Andy Roberston, Curtis Jones, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Hopefully, these players return to fitness soon to give gaffer Jurgen Klopp more options to choose from.
