Liverpool gaffer Jurgen Klopp provides team update ahead of Brighton clash
This week saw the return of three first-team stars to the AXA Training Centre. Centreback Ibrahima Konate, Goalie Caoimhin Kelleher and right-back Calvin Ramsay all featured in team training ahead of the weekend fixture.
Speaking ahead of the match against Brighton and Hove Albion at Anfield on 1 October, Liverpool gaffer Jurgen Klopp spoke in his pre-match press conference via Youtube and gave an update on the injury situation and the players available for the fixture.
Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have not featured for the Reds this season yet. They both have been ruled out by the gaffer for the Brighton fixture as well. The futures of these two midfielders at the club is on tenterhooks with no talks of a contract extension.
Alongside Ox and Naby, Curtis Jones and Andrew Robertson will also not play a role in the game against the Sussex-based outfit. Andy is still nursing a knee issue he picked up in the game against Napoli.
Curtis on the other hand is currently sitting out following a recurrence of a previous injury. A few players who are returning from international duty including the likes of Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez are all available for selection.
Apart from that Klopp also spoke about Ibrahima Konate, Caoimhin Kelleher and Calvin Ramsay’s situation additionally. The Scottish full-back is back in full training, but not match fit presently and will train with the U21s to gain minutes.
Konate apparently, needs more training but is available for selection. Kelleher will also play with the U21 squad to gain minutes before transitioning into the first team once again.
