Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool will try their best against “outstanding” Arsenal after Brighton draw

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is wary of Mikel Arteta’s resurgent Arsenal team

Speaking to Metro post Liverpool’s 3-3 draw against Brighton, Jurgen Klopp was honest in his assessment of the current situation of the team and wary of their next league fixture against a resurgent Arsenal team under Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal have seen a blistering start to the season with seven wins out of the first eight league games and currently sit top of the league with 21 points, 11 points clear of Liverpool.

It has just not been the results but the performances of Arteta’s team which has been eye-catching and Klopp is aware of the threat that their next opponent possesses. The Reds face the Gunners in the Premier League at the Emirates on Sunday, October 9.

“I know then Arsenal is coming and we saw glimpses of their game against Tottenham. They are outstanding in the moment so that is obviously not an easy game.”

In contrast to Arsenal, Liverpool have seen a dismal start to the season and have collected just ten points so far, with just two wins out of the first seven league games. Our season started with injuries to key players which derailed the overall performance and made us more susceptible to attacks.

A lack of a proper pre-season is also a key factor, which has seen many key players in Virgil Van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohammad Salah and Fabinho not being able to replicate the standards set by them in the previous seasons.

With the hopes of a title run out of the window at this stage of the season, we need to gear up our performances and look to get wins under the belt or can see the top four ambitions also sliding away.

It has been a dreadful couple of months, something no one would have anticipated considering we were one of the best European teams last season and were competing for all significant honours.

Although no serious questions are being raised on Klopp currently, it is pertinent that he solves the current crisis or risk being in jeopardy if the current slump continues. We have been good against the Gunners in recent years.

A loss to a team that hasn’t beaten us in their last five matches against us across competitions could really put Klopp under immense pressure. This could then become a very, very long season for the Reds.
