Liverpool ready to break the bank for UCL-winning South American star

Liverpool willing to pay a king’s ransom for Real Madrid superstar Federico Valverde

Fichajes (h/t Liverpool Echo) has claimed that Liverpool are willing to submit a ‘crazy’ bid worth £132m in order to lure Real Madrid midfield mainstay Federico Valverde to Anfield next summer.

Liverpool had earlier bid for the 24-year-old earlier this summer window but had their offer rejected by Carlo Ancelotti. Eventually, the only midfielder who came into the squad was Arthur Melo, who joined the Reds on loan from Juventus on deadline day.

Former Reds target Aurelien Tchouameni also pipped the opportunity to join Liverpool, and instead opted to play for Los Blancos at the Santiago Bernabeu. Moreover, long-term Reds target Jude Bellingham is also on the radar of Real Madrid.

Federico Valverde has been one of the best midfielders in the world for two seasons now. This season, he has been a revelation. The Uruguayan international has scored four goals and got two assists from nine appearances across all competitions this season.

Liverpool’s readiness to pay a monstrous amount of £132 for the midfielder certainly comes as a shock. The Reds are known for the rigidness in the transfer market and the unwillingness to spend large amounts of money.

One could actually make the argument that Valverde is worth the money. The former Penarol midfielder is someone who was actually on the Reds’ radar, and he would certainly be a great addition to the team. His offensive skills and defensive sturdiness provide the perfect balance for any team looking to secure his services.

With Jude Bellingham also valued around the same £130m

mark, it will be interesting to see what the Reds would do next summer window. A midfielder coming into the squad is almost a necessity at this stage, and whether Valverde or Bellingham would be one of those is something to be seen.
