Liverpool and Scotland legend warns Jurgen Klopp and co of potential “upset” against Rangers

Club legend Sir Kenny Dalglish sends message to Liverpool ahead of UCL fixture

Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League group stage away fixture against Glasgow Rangers, club legend Sir Kenny Dalglish said that the fixture is not a formality and the Reds have to bring their A-Game to Scotland.

As things stand presently, Liverpool are in second place in Group A of the UCL. Napoli lead the group with two wins from as many games. The Reds and Ajax share points and Rangers are yet to open their account in this year’s campaign.

The Reds will travel to Glasgow to meet their nemesis on Tuesday night. Liverpool have had an off-beat start to their European campaign, losing their first game to Napoli 4-1 and narrowly pulling off a win against Ajax at Anfield.

This upcoming fixture shall test the mental strength of the Reds as they are not in the best shape possible this year. And who better to take advice on it than Dalglish? The Scottish legend knows all about Gers from his time as a player and then later, as a caretaker manager at Celtic.

Speaking to FourFourTwo (h/t Liverpool Echo). club icon Sir Kenny Dalglish believes that no fixture is easy for the Reds and an upset could also ensure. Hence, Liverpool need to be on their toes and be proactive in their approach to the game.

“It is a hard shout – but it is a hard shout for Liverpool as well. You know other people have spent a lot of money and been successful but other people have spent money and not been successful.”

“You just have to do as well as you can and make sure that even if you have lost you have done the best you can. There is nothing (that is) a formality. You can always get an upset.

Form is a concern for Liverpool

Presently, Liverpool are coming off a 3-3 draw at home to Brighton and Hove Albion. It was not the best of performances from the Reds and confidence is certainly a worrisome factor at the moment.

The fixture comes at a time wherein the Reds have not had the best of games and the Rangers are coming off a 4-0 away victory in the Scottish Premiership against Hearts FC. Moreover, an argument that the Scottish outfit is currently better on the form front could be made.

The Merseysiders have a point to make after the horror start to the season and it would be too late if the Reds do not prevail against their next opponents.
