Reputed Italian Journalist refutes Liverpool transfer activity

Fabrizio Romano makes Liverpool transfer claim amid poor form

Speaking on his podcast channel via Caught Offside, journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Liverpool will not panic-buy after a poor start to the season and would probably look to upgrade in the 2023 summer transfer window.

“They’re very happy with recent signings like Luis Diaz and Ibrahima Konate, and their plan keeps going for the present and future”

Jurgen Klopp’s team had a poor start to the season with just two wins out of the first seven Premier League games and sits in the ninth position in the league table.

It is hard to compare that more than half of the same individuals were competing for a quadruple only last season and the dip in form of key players has been astonishing.

There have been many factors credited for the dismal start to the season with claims ranging from burnout off last season to injuries to key players at the beginning of the season.

However one wishes to see it, there can be multiple factors which have resulted in us being in the current position. It would be foolhardy not to move in the January window if things don’t improve.

Fabrizio Romano has refuted any such speculations and believes Liverpool’s main plan has always been to invest in a top midfielder next summer. He goes on to add that the fans should not expect much movement before that.

“I’m told the priority will be a top midfielder, then at the end of the season we will see how they will decide to proceed”

Manchester City’s Erling Haaland has adapted very well to his new surroundings

It remains to be seen whether the club does end up playing the waiting game if the current slump continues. With expectations for the season already diminishing, a rebuild is imminent.

Rivals and reigning champions Manchester City have been blistering past opposition teams and look levels above us currently.

New signing Erling Haaland, with 14 goals in eight Premier League matches, has added an extra dimension to an already established attack and it looks like there is no stopping them this season.

Hence, our battle has shifted from title contenders to being the best of the rest and that is too currently a far-fetched thought with teams like Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur looking particularly strong.
