Luke Chadwick claims Liverpool are out of the title race amid a poor start to the season

Speaking to CaughtOffside, Former Manchester United player Luke Chadwick claims that Liverpool are now out of the title race, with Manchester City and Arsenal the clear favourites to fight for the league title.

Chadwick, who represented United 38 times, believes that injuries did indeed play a part in our disjointed start to the season and the fear factor associated with the team in recent years has narrowed down.

“It looks now like some of that fear factor has gone away.

Teams are having a go at Liverpool now, with much more belief than before.

You’d say this poor start has maybe already made it really hard for them to compete for the league this season.”

It is no secret that Liverpool have not had the desired start that was expected by everyone, considering the same players were fighting for a quadruple last season.

Liverpool have been Manchester City’s main rival over the past few years but it seems like this year we would have to satisfy ourselves with lower expectations of a top-four finish.

It can be argued that there are still many games to be played and with our key players returning, the slump in form would be rectified soon.

After a disappointing draw against Brighton, Liverpool looked like the old version of themselves with an impressive European win over Rangers FC.

The win could not have come at a better time with the team going away to Emirates on the weekend for their clash with league leaders Arsenal, who have been on blistering form this season.

Arsenal are already eleven points above us and in no circumstance can we afford to lose the game and let them reach a level which would be tough for us to attain.

Hopefully, the inspired performance in our European encounter would provide the team with the much-needed confidence boost and we move towards the league fixture hoping to keep the good record against Arsenal in recent years intact.
