Alex Rae tells Liverpool to watch out for Antonio Colak and Ryan Kent vs Rangers in UEFA Champions League fixture

Liverpool suffered a major dip in their top-four hopes with a 3-2 defeat against league leaders Arsenal. The result confirmed the fact that we are now out of the title race and a top-four place is our fight for the season.

The defeat was bad for a whole lot of reasons and one of them included the injury suffered to Luis Diaz, who is now confirmed out until the World Cup and a knock to Trent Alexander-Arnold with Joe Gomes the expected deputy in his place.

Next up Liverpool travels to Ibrox Stadium, home of Rangers FC for their UEFA Champions League clash and former Rangers midfielder Alex Rae has backed his former side to make life difficult for the travelling side.

Speaking to BoyleSports UCL bets (h/t Liverpool Echo), Rae said that it will not be an easy fixture for Liverpool and named two Rangers players who he feels will be influential.

“It won’t be a routine win for Liverpool, but it’ll still be tough for Rangers. Antonio Colak is in great form and scoring goals at the moment. Their best chance of a result is to transition through Ryan Kent and get deliveries into the box for Colak.”

The former Rangers midfielder seems confident about his side’s chances on Wednesday even after suffering a 2-0 in the teams’ previous meeting. It can be something to do with how Liverpool have been crumbling to a level no one expected and teams now feel there is a chance to bag a result against them.

Teams like Brighton & Hove Albion and Napoli have proved that it is comparatively easier to get a result against the current Liverpool side, with many key players not performing to the expected level.

As mentioned, Rangers FC would be particularly reliant on the duo Colak and Kent with the form the two have shown this season. Colak has been thoroughly impressive in front of goal and has already bagged 13 goals in all competitions this season.

Former Liverpool midfielder Ryan Kent, on the other hand, has seen his stock rise up since his move to the Ibrox with him taking up the responsibility of being the creator and helping the team in transitions. He has had a good start to the season and in 7 appearances in the Scottish league this season, the player has scored once and assisted four goals.

Liverpool have been brought back to the ground after a surreal last season which saw them compete for an unprecedented quadruple.

After the showing against Arsenal, it is important that we get back to winning ways and the coming fixture is especially important to help us maintain a stronghold on the qualifying positions for the knockout stage.

With Jurgen Klopp facing one of the biggest tests of his career, he would be aware that anything other than a defeat against Rangers would have consequences. Hopefully, better performance and a victory are on the cards and we regain some lost form and confidence.
