Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp visibly annoyed by Dietmar Hamann comments
Speaking in the pre-match press conference ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League clash against the Rangers as quoted by Telegraph, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was visibly annoyed by Dietmar Hamann’s comments on Liverpool not having a ‘spark’.
The former Liverpool Champions League winner seemed to suggest that Klopp’s side just don’t look the part anymore and that they have lost the spark that made them so successful for so many years.
Klopp, in his press conference yesterday insisted that there was no quick fix to Liverpool’s problems and that he doesn’t actually know when his side will “fly again” but insisted that none of his players have lost the hunger or desire.
Liverpool have had a horrible start to the season under Klopp and are struggling to beat teams that they used to swat aside in prior seasons. The Reds find themselves 14 points behind league leaders Arsenal.
It is already looking like an impossible road back up for Jurgen Klopp’s team in the Premier League. However, there is still hope that the Reds will shine in their Champions League group and progress in the tournament.
Liverpool sit second behind Napoli in the group, with the Italian club having a perfect record until now including a win against the Reds. Klopp will want his team to get the better of Rangers for the second time in two weeks when the two teams play today.
Speaking about Hamann’s comments, Klopp was irritated and claimed that being a former player doesn’t give one the right to say what he pleases without knowing the true picture.
“Oh great – a fantastic source, well respected everywhere. That [being a former Liverpool player] does not give you the right to say what you want, especially when you have no idea.”
It is understandable why Klopp is so upset about his countryman’s comments. Too much external noise is surrounding Liverpool right now which doesn’t spell good for the players, who will only feel the pressure even more.
