Jurgen Klopp talks about Roberto Firmino’s form ahead of the match against Manchester City
Liverpool gaffer Jurgen Klopp spoke highly of Roberto Firmino in his pre-match conference before Sunday’s league game against Manchester City. The Brazilian is in top form this season, scoring eight goals and getting four assists from 12 appearances across all competitions.
Recently, Bobby scored a brace and got an assist in Liverpool’s 7-1 away win against the Rangers in the UEFA Champions League. Moreover, he is Liverpool’s top-scorer in the Premier League and Top Assist Maker as well.
Ever since Darwin Nunez’s introduction, Firmino has been performing exceedingly well, pushing his case for a starting role in the line-up. It is almost like the Uruguayan coming into the club acting as a catalyst for Bobby to get back to top form.
Speaking of the 31-year-old Brazilian, the gaffer said the following (h/t Liverpool Echo)
“Bobby is an exceptional player but it’s not like he was flying in all the games. We didn’t have the best start in our lives for different reasons, but scoring two at Rangers helps. Loved the two goals.”
Si Senor back in the groove
Even with his stupendous form this season, he has failed to find the next in a few important fixtures including derbies against Manchester United and Everton. It also includes the thrashing we received from Napoli at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
It is not fair to be talking about the games he missed out on scoring given he has gotten the most goals for us this season, but we would have probably needed his goals more in these fixtures than say, against Bournemouth.
But, we cannot complain about the goals he has scored and the assists he has made. That is plain unfair. However, we could hope for this golden form to continue and for him to perform this weekend against Manchester City at Anfield as well.
There is a lot of trust and expectation from a senior player like Firmino at the club, and it is refreshing to see him return to form after having a few tough seasons. Who knows, a contract extension for the Brazilian could be on the way after his wonderful start to this campaign.

Klopp has shown a lot of trust in Bobby over the last few years, and he has been a very integral part of the German’s plans at the club. With the way he is contributing with goals and assists, we hope that long this form may continue.
