“It’s going to happen again”- Manchester City’s Kyle Walker sends advice to under-fire Liverpool star

Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker offers a piece of advice to Liverpool superstar Trent Alexander-Arnold

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live (h/t Liverpool Echo), Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker spoke about the criticism Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold is facing off late and offered the Scouser some advice.

Following Liverpool’s shaky start to the season, Trent became subject to criticism from multiple former players and pundits and was subsequently bantered by opposition fans online for his performances as well.

Currently sitting out due to an ankle injury, Alexander-Arnold did not have a good game against Arsenal as well in the last league match he played. For a player of his calibre, he has not been up to the mark this season.

His Manchester City counterpart Kyle Walker gave Trent a piece of advice. The 32-year-old has the following to say to the Scouser.

“My personal point of view is, it’s going to happen again. People are going to have doubts again. It’s football, it’s about opinions. Some opinions are definitely not right and some are right.”

Trent’s form is a major worry for Liverpool.

The bottom line Walker is trying to draw here is that there are multiple people with their subjective opinions in the sport of football. It is not something that the players could control. Hence, they should divert their attention to things they have under control.

It is important for Alexander-Arnold not to let this negative talk from outside the pitch affect his mental health, and eventually his game. He is much more aware of what he can do than the people who are having a go at him.

Liverpool gaffer Jurgen Klopp has always shown his support for Trent and has spoken in public about the player not playing in the position he is if he was not able to defend. There is a lot of pressure on him to perform at his peak as soon as he returns from injury.

In order to cement his place on the plane to Qatar for the World Cup later this year, it is extremely crucial that he is back to form as quickly as possible. A game as big as this could have been the chance for him to make an impression, but he will have to wait before taking to the pitch again.
