Manchester City ace Erling Haaland is fit to face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday
Speaking ahead of the high-octane fixture against Liverpool on Sunday, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that star-striker Erling Haaland is ready to face the Reds at Anfield. (h/t Manchester Evening News)
Haaland saw himself on the bench against Copenhagen FC in the UEFA Champions League. According to Pep, Haaland could not declare himself fully fit to play in Denmark. However, with the latest revelation that Haaland is in contention to start against Liverpool, he has certainly put a worry on some of the Reds’ fans’ minds.
Since joining the Manchester outfit in the early weeks of the transfer window, Haaland has gone on to disrupt backlines all over the country and Europe as well. He is the Premier League’s top goal scorer. He is also the top goal-scorer in the UEFA Champions League.
This fixture comes at a time when Liverpool’s backline, which has not been in great form, has to come up against one of the most in-form strikers in the world. It will certainly be a tough game for Virgil van Dijk and co. trying to stop Haaland.
Haaland vs Liverpool
Given that Haaland did not get past the Liverpool backline last time, he would be eager to do so on Sunday. However, Virgil van Dijk has plans for the striker. The Dutchman would hope that the Reds keep a clean sheet against the Cityzens and get a win from the game.
Haaland has played a huge hand in City’s unbeatable run so far in the season. They have not lost a league game yet and sit second in the table to Arsenal. The Merseysiders on the other hand, have not had the best start to their league campaign.
In tenth with only two wins from eight games, Liverpool have seemed to struggle to get ends to meet in the Premier League. A dissatisfying draw to Brighton and Hove Albion at home followed by a 3-2 loss at The Emirates against Arsenal is definitely not what the Reds would have hoped for their record to be heading into the all-important fixture vs City.
