Andy Robertson praises “best in the world” Alisson for his heroics against Manchester City
Liverpool came back to winning ways with an impressive victory over Manchester City, giving some hope of it being the kickstart to turning around the season.
Jurgen Klopp’s men had the worst possible start to the season and were sitting tenth in the league before the Citizen’s visit to Anfield and many had predicted the game in favour of the away team.
Rightly so as well considering we had won just two games prior to the fixture. However, at times of adversity, the team once again showed why it was considered one of the most dominant teams in Europe over the past few seasons.
It was a deserving win against an in-form City attack with star striker Erling Haaland kept at bay for most of the game with the defence putting forward a solid defence.
Particularly impressive was the performance of Alisson Becker, who not only kept a clean sheet but also was the assist provider for the winner scored by Mohamed Salah.
Speaking to Liverpool’s official club website, full-back Andy Robertson, who made his return from injury, was full of praise for his teammate and considers him one of the best in the world.
“Ali on the ball is unbelievable and you have to trust him in those moments
“I think Ali’s the best in the world for sure in what he does. We’ve all probably let him down this season in that he’s faced too many shots, he’s had to be making too many saves.”
Roberston gives an honest verdict on the state of our leaky defence and how Alisson had a lot more work to do than usual. Thankfully the Brazilian is a reliable last line of defence.
Since joining Liverpool from AS Roma, Alisson has become a mainstay in the team and has established himself as one of the key members of the team with his high ability to play out from the back, as was evident from the winner against Manchester City.
