Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp responds to xenophobia allegations
Speaking in an interview ahead of Liverpool’s clash against West Ham as quoted by the Mirror, Jurgen Klopp is disgusted by the xenophobia claims made about him following the win against Manchester City.
Klopp, who has been against any form of discrimination throughout his lifetime has responded with disdain regarding the claims made against him that the German has a prejudice against people from other countries.
Klopp went on to claim that this was far away from his personality and nowhere close to the truth. The LFC board have sent legal notices to the newspapers that the news claim has to be removed.
The Liverpool boss had called out certain clubs who seemed to have an unlimited budget and rued the fact that the Reds cannot be competing on the same financial level as certain clubs that he mentioned.
The comments got misinterpreted and Klopp felt that it was totally unwarranted. He said that the attacks on him were completely baseless and that he has never had such an ideology in his head.
Klopp has claimed that he could not even remember the word and vehemently opposed the claims.
“If I was – I cannot remember the word, wow! (xenophobic) – like this I would hate it. I would hate myself for being like this. You cannot hit (me) with something which is miles away from my personality”
Liverpool take on David Moyes’ side in the Premier League tonight. They had an excellent win against Manchester City over the weekend which could hopefully revive their faltering season and let’s hope it continues.
The Reds find themselves 14 points behind Arsenal in the fight for the Premier League and it will not be easy for Jurgen Klopp’s side to catch up. They have a problem on their hands and it remains to be seen how they sort it out.
