Injury News: Darwin Nunez expected to be fit for Ajax clash
According to Liverpool Echo, Darwin Nunez “is expected” to be fit for the Wednesday clash against FC Porto in the Champions League.
The new summer signing was taken off against West Ham last week due to feeling tightness in his hamstring. Subsequently he missed his side’s 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest last Saturday.
However, it is now expected that the 23-year-old will be fit and available for selection against Porto this Wednesday. This will come as good news to Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp is without a host of first-team players who are out due to injury. Some of the notable names include Thiago Alcantara, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz.
Nunez arrived this summer for £85 million from SL Benfica. Since then, the Uruguayan striker has played in 12 games in all competitions, scoring five goals in the process.
Him being likely available for selection would put a smile on the fans faces. The Reds need one more point to secure their place in the Round of 16 of this season’s Champions League.
Liverpool have been going through a turbulence this season. While the league has not gone according to plan, qualification to the next round in the Champions League will come as good news to the fans and players.
