Liverpool looking to sign Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min
As per Caught Offside (h/t Daily Star), Liverpool are planning a sensational move for Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min. It would appear that the South Korean international wants a new challenge and might be open to a move.
Last season, Son and Salah finished with 23 goals each to share the Premier League Golden Boot. Liverpool could benefit from signing the former Bayer Leverkusen winger, who is a proven match-winner.
But the only downside would be the fact that Son is already 30, and one could argue that he is unlikely to be a long-term addition. However, in football, uncertainty is the only certainty and he could do extremely good in the immediate future.
In 342 appearances for Tottenham across all competitions, he has 136 goals and 76 assists. Despite his individual brilliance, Son is yet to win a single trophy in North London and is yet to know what it’s like to secure silverware in England.
Liverpool have a better chance of winning the bigger trophies and hence, the move could benefit Son as well as the Reds. The Merseysiders are currently without a recognised left-winger after Luis Diaz’s and Diogo Jota’s injury situations.
Son, already 30, does not have a lot of time to try and experiment around in his pursuit of silverware at Tottenham. Hence, he will have to take an important call on what to do with his future and move to another club, possibly Liverpool. Even former Reds striker Dean Saunders believed that Son would’ve been the perfect replacement for Sadio Mane.
