Liverpool ‘ready’ to join race for Newcastle United’s star midfielder Bruno Guimaraes
As per TNT Sports (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are now ‘ready’ to enter the race alongside Chelsea for Newcastle United’s defensive midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. The 24-year-old Brazil international joined Eddie Howe’s squad in the Midlands back in January this year from Olympique Lyon.
Ever since his move, Bruno has been one of the best performers in the Premier League and obviously, for Newcastle as well. In 27 appearances so far across all competitions, Guimaraes has accumulated seven goals and three assists.
The player also has eight senior appearances for his national team, scoring for them on one occasion and has four assists as well. Bruno is certainly creating waves across Europe with his performances and it is natural for top clubs to have an interest in the player.
Alongside Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid also share an interest in Bruno. Los Blancos at this point don’t seem like they’ll let the Reds have their say in the transfer market. Real got hold of Aurelien Tchouameni, who for the longest time was on Liverpool’s radar.
Another Bruno in the North-west?
Jude Bellingham, this time around, as the days keep going, seems more and more likely to join Madrid instead of Liverpool, who have kept tabs on him since his move to the Bundesliga. However, in this case, we can only hope that we get a free run in the pursuit of Bruno.
Guimaraes’ natural role is that of a defensive midfielder who can tend to play advanced roles as per the situation. He could prove to be a good addition to the squad and give Fabinho a long-due competition for his place in the Starting XI as the former Monaco man has not been up to standards this season.
The midfield depth for Liverpool this season has been far from ideal, and at times has made the fans go extremely frustrated as they should be. But with Bruno’s contract lasting until 2026 per Transfermarkt, their pursuit would not come at cut costs.

The Reds’ lack of business in the transfer market is hurting the club now, and hopefully, they have learnt a thing or two from their mistakes and make a bid for the 24-year-old midfielder come the next transfer window.
