Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp expects to have Henderson, Alcantara and Konate available for selection against Leeds United

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp expects to have Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara and Ibrahima Konate available for selection against Leeds United this Saturday.

Henderson was taken off during his side’s 3-0 win over Ajax in the Champions League earlier this week, while Thiago and Konate missed the game due to an ear infection and a muscle problem respectively.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Leeds, the Reds boss gave an update on the three players and expects them to be available for selection. (h/t Metro)

“I expect Jordan Henderson to be okay. Thiago will return too. It’s still soon for Naby Keita and Matip is still out. You don’t have to ask about Diogo or Luis for a while.”

Fans will be happy to see Thiago return to action. There is no doubt that the Spaniards’ absence has been a huge disadvantage for us over the course of this season.

The former Bayern Munich man has only played five league games so far for the Reds but has been excellent in all of them. Konate’s return will also be a major boost to our defensive line-up.

Konate has only played in two games so far in all competitions and Klopp would be wise to not rush the centre-back straight into action or he could have a relapse of his injury.

Liverpool will be without five players though. Naby Keita and Joel Matip will not be available, while the trio of Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Arthur Melo have long-term injuries and will likely be back after the World Cup.

The Reds will hope to bounce back against Leeds after surprisingly losing 1-0 against Nottingham Forest last weekend. While Jesse Marsch’s side is 18th on the table, they cannot be taken lightly, something that Klopp will know well.
