Liverpool ready to go ‘all-in’ for long-term transfer target Jude Bellingham

As per Sport Bild (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has arrived at an agreement with owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) who have “kept aside” a sum of £86m to fulfil their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s 19-year-old midfielder Jude Bellingham.

The Reds’ have been long-term admirers of the former Birmingham City midfielder, ever since his move to the Bundesliga. A report from The Athletic also claims that during his Under-11 days, he came to Kirkby for a trial at the Reds’ academy but a move did not go through.

The news that the top brass at Liverpool have gathered the courage to spend big bucks in the transfer window would give the fans a glimmer of hope to see Jude in Liverpool colours. It could happen either next season or as early as January, but the latter seems unlikely at the moment.

However, the £86m looks like a small amount when compared to the valuation made by Dortmund. The Bundesliga giants do not agree to a sum lower than the £131m they think Bellingham is worth.

Dortmund would obviously not have it their way as the amount is drastic and huge for any club. They will probably have to settle for something more realistic but not significantly lower than their own valuation.

Real Madrid are also interested in the player, and a move to the Santiago Bernabeu seems a more alluring one for Jude, given the Reds have been a shadow of themselves this season, at least in the Premier League.

The frequent injuries to Liverpool’s midfield will in the most likely of situations ensure that they possibly move for a midfielder this January and/or next summer, but if it is Bellingham, only time will tell.

More Liverpool News:

It will certainly be a huge statement if the Reds manage to pull off the signing of Bellingham even in this tough situation they are in. However, Jude will want to play in the UEFA Champions League next season, and for that, it is crucial for the Reds to ensure themselves a top-four finish.
