Liverpool are secretly ‘forging a close relationship’ with Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham ahead of the upcoming transfer battle for his signature. Amid interest from Real Madrid and Manchester United for the player, the Reds have had a few close talks with Bellingham’s associates behind the scene. The 19-year-old alongside Pedri of Barcelona has been among the world’s best young midfielders and obviously, Dortmund would ask for a hefty price to part ways with the former Birmingham City midfielder.

As per The Athletic, Dortmund value their player at £131m which could be a huge barricade in the Reds’ attempt to sign the player. Liverpool are not big spenders and that has been a crucial part of their success in recent years.

Besides, there are a few positives in Liverpool talking to Bellingham’s close aids. Ultimately, the club’s ‘close relationship’ with the superstar’s inner circle could prove significant in the battle for his signature.

The two clubs which could afford Jude’s heavy price tag, particularly Madrid are already included in the race and that could be a problem for Liverpool. And moreover, the Reds’ have played the ball in Madrid’s court already by not challenging for one of the UCL spots so far.

With Liverpool’s recent past with injury situations, it makes utmost sense for the Reds to buy a midfielder next summer. But the only problem which arises here is the fact that the asking price might turn out to be too much for Liverpool, who could then opt for a cheaper alternative such as Ismael Bennacer.
