Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants to sign Marcos Llorente

Marcos Llorente is the newest addition to the ever-growing list of midfielders Liverpool are targeting. The 27-year-old Spaniard is an extremely vital asset for Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid.

Liverpool will particularly not have the fondest memories of the midfielder as he helped knocked the Reds out of the 2020 UEFA Champions League. He did so by scoring twice in added-time in the round of 16 fixture second leg at Anfield.

However, the fans would know that the player is extremely skilful as he got the better of the Reds in a season wherein the defence was almost unbreachable for a certain period of time. Liverpool went on to win the Premier League that season.

However, coming back to the present moment, Fichajes via Liverpool Echo claims that Atletico could sell Llorente as they have not qualified for the Round of 16 in this season’s Champions League.

Apparently, Jurgen Klopp has asked the club to make the ‘financial efforts’ to bring Llorente on board at Anfield. It seems like a very wise decision as the Reds, in their current state wherein the midfield is extremely injury-prone, Liverpool could do with another midfielder.

In 130 appearances for Atletico, Llorente has 19 goals and 20 assists. A versatile player, he can play multiple midfield roles along with doing a job on the wings as well. Moreover, the gaffer likes versatile players and the Spaniard could be a good addition to the club.

At 27, he would also help bring down the average age of the squad apart from his skills and could be a good player for the Reds as well. Fans have first-hand seen him perform at Anfield and he is a big game player.
