Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes there is room for improvement on the relationship between Darwin Nunez and Andy Robertson

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has shed light on the scope of improvement between Reds’ stars Darwin Nunez and Andy Robertson.

The departure of Sadio Mane to FC Bayern Munich left a gaping hole in Liverpool’s attack from the left hence curbing the lethal threat posed by the Senegalese and boosted by Andy Robertson‘s overlaps from the wings with new signing Nunez now taking up on the opportunity to play from the left.

Although Luis Diaz has been brought in to cover the deficit, which to his credit, has done majorly well but with the Columbian being injured till after the FIFA World Cup ends, Nunez has been deployed recently in the position.

Asked about the partnership of Nunez with the tenacious Robertson, Jurgen Klopp while speaking to Liverpool Echo, believes that there is room for improvement with the forward when it comes to offering threats from the left.

Robbo played a long time with Sadio Mane. Luis covered that space. It’s different. Darwin is different as well. We know Darwin can be a real threat offensively. Defensively there is room for improvement.”

Nunez bore the brunt of criticisms from opposition fans during his early days at Anfield for his lack of technical ability. He was deemed a failure just after his first few appearances for the club.

A big price tag often eludes unexpected expectations from pundits and supporters for the player to get the ground running from the get-go. Nunez’s numbers up till now in a Liverpool jersey have been good with the Uruguyuan contributing to nine goals in 17 games and has been in great form recently.

One of the major reasons behind the constant flak has been the form of another summer signing forward Erling Haaland, who has taken the league by storm with his start to life at Manchester City.

Many would agree that Nunez has not had a similar path of development as his Norwegian counterpart and shifting from the Portuguese League to the Premier League is a big change for any player.

More than anything, the player has shown his quality to adapt to the requirements of the team and has not created any fuzz when dropped to the bench and looks way more settled in the team as compared to two months back.
