James Milner is happy with Darwin Nunez forming a new partnership with Andrew Robertson at Liverpool

Liverpool midfielder James Milner has praised the partnership that striker Darwin Nunez and left-back Andrew Robertson have been developing at the club.

Both the players were involved during their side’s 3-1 win over Southampton on Saturday (12 November). Nunez started as a left-winger with the Scot behind him as the left-back.

Robertson set up Roberto Firmino for the first goal and was involved again when his cross was met by the Uruguayan for his second goal and his side’s third.

Milner, who came off the bench to make his 600th Premier League appearance, was impressed by the linking-up of the duo at the left flank. Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com (h/t Liverpool Echo), the 36-year-old praised the partnership.

“They’re getting that understanding and it’s great that Darwin is banging those goals in. He has settled in pretty quick, to be fair. He’s still learning the language but he’s getting it, he has got a great sense of humour and obviously we’ll see more of that I’m sure once his English comes out more. He has got everything so it’s pleasing for him to get the goals. And Robbo, we know how much he loves an assist as well so it’s important that he keeps getting those.”

The duo were impressive against Tottenham Hotspur last week when their side won 2-1 in north London. With both left-wingers in Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz injured, it is good to see Nunez step up for the team.

Nunez joined the Reds this summer and has already scored nine goals in 18 appearances so far in all competitions. The 23-year-old seems to be finding his form after getting off to a rough start in the Premier League.
