Nottingham Forest eye loan move for Liverpool youngster Ben Doak in January transfer window

Liverpool youngster Ben Doak is attracting interest from Nottingham Forest as the Tricky Trees eye a loan move for him in the January transfer window, according to Nottinghamshire Live (h/t Liverpool Echo).

The West Bridgford-based club are interested in the 17-year-old who recently signed a professional contract with the Reds. Scouts from Forest were in attendance as the right-winger started for the Scotland U21 side.

Doak was handed his full debut for the youth team of his nation against the Iceland U21 team. And the 17-year-old provided an assist for Max Johnston’s opener. But unfortunately, in the end, they lost 2-1.

The Tricky Trees signed Neco Williams from the Merseysiders in the recent transfer window. The Wales international joined Steve Cooper’s team on a permanent deal.

Forest splashed the cash in the summer of 2022, bringing several players to reinforce their squad for the Premier League. The Tricky Trees were promoted to the English top flight after a 23-year absence after winning their play-off tie against Huddersfield Town.

Doak made his debut for Liverpool against Derby County in the Carabao Cup on 9 November, 2022. The youngster came on as a substitute in the 74th minute at Anfield. The Reds won the game 3-2 on penalties.

The 17-year-old moved to the Merseysiders in March 2022 from Celtic FC. And the Scotland U21 international has played on the right wing for the majority of games for our youth sides.

Liverpool have a host of talented youngsters in the squad at the moment. The likes of Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho have already established themselves in the Reds’ first-team squad.

Hopefully, Doaks can take a page from the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and make his way to the senior squad in the coming years. However, it remains to be seen whether, for now, the Reds entertain any loan offer for the 17-year-old from Forest.
