Liverpool target Jude Bellingham to follow in Erling Haaland’s footsteps in selecting next club
According to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs (h/t Manchester Evening News), Premier League giants Liverpool will be among several clubs who will be subject to an appraisal by Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.
The 19-year-old is one of the best young footballers in world football and continues to garner eyeballs with his excellent performances. The Reds have been long-term admirers of the Englishman and will be keen to come out on top in the transfer race.
It will not be easy as Jurgen Klopp and co will have to contend with several other top teams in the fray. The player too has plans of his own and the Reds will hope to make a positive impression and rank higher in his pecking order.
Jacobs reveals that there is likely to be a lack of emotion in Bellingham’s decision while selecting a new club. The 19-year-old has been backed to follow the methodology that Erling Haaland underwent when he chose to move to Manchester City last summer.
“I think Bellingham, from what I gather, will do exactly what Haaland did. He’ll score who he joins dispassionately, which is really key. So, when Haaland joined Manchester City he looked at the sentiment and the fact that his father played for the football club.”
The checklist consists of several parameters that span not just the playing squad but also the pay, facilities on offer and even the city surroundings among others. As long as Liverpool score high in the parameters, we should be fine.
He also created a bunch of columns, ranging from manager to teammates to training facilities to where the team was to pay packet to city and so on.”
The Reds have top class infrastructure and arguably the best manager in world football at their disposal. While the squad could do with certain additions, it is one of the best in Europe when fully fit and can challenge for trophies along multiple fronts.
Securing a top-four finish will also see them continue their reputation as Champions League regulars under Klopp.
In many ways, it can be argued that a midfielder of Bellingham’s ability is what the Reds’ roster lacks. There is every reason to believe that the 19-year-old can be one of the final pieces in Klopp’s rebuild.

The Reds have quietly gone about bringing in new players over the last few years. The likes of Ibrahima Konate Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Fabio Carvalho, Calvin Ramsay and Darwin Nunez are all young and can be key players for the club in the years to come.
Bellingham can join them and ensure that the gravy train continues at Anfield. Klopp has a rough road ahead of him as the rebuild gathers pace, but it is inevitable.
