Liverpool are interested in signing PSV Eindhoven and the Netherlands star Cody Gakpo
According to the Dutch outlet Voetbal International (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are set to enter talks with Dutch International and PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo.
It is claimed that they would need to pay in upwards of €50million for the Dutch star who has been in exceptional form for both club and country.
Gakpo was linked with a move to rivals Manchester United in the summer but it did not materialise in the end.
It turned out to be a blessing in disguise for PSV for which the forward has been brilliant since the start of the season, contributing to 30 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions.
His impressive performances at the club have not derailed his performances at the national leave for the Netherlands at the FIFA World Cup where he has scored in three successive competitive matches to help his team reach the knockout stages.
While he was close to a move to the Premier League in the summer which did not materialise, there is a very big possibility of the Dutchman heading to the league in the coming transfer window.
This has alerted top clubs, including Liverpool to compete for his signature and a bidding war for the player is set to be initiated once the World Cup ends.
